FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: What kind of animals do you photograph?
A: We will photograph any animal you want to bring, or that we can visit. That includes horses, dogs, cats, birds, prairie dogs, chinchillas, rats, snakes, and anything else you can think of. We love them all.

Q: I saw photos of wildlife in the gallery, do you photograph exotic pets?
A: We photograph wild animals ONLY for rescues and animal preserves. Gypsy Bear Pet Photography does not condone keeping these animals as pets.

Q: What should I do to prepare for the session?
A: Your pet should be cleaned and groomed. You may want to bring a brush to the session to touch-up between takes. It’s also beneficial if you play with your pet before the photo session. You don’t want to bring an exhausted animal, but it helps for them to expend some of their energy before we start.

Q: How long is the session?
A: Standard sessions are two hours long. This ensures that we can get many great photos so you have several choices at the time of proofing.

Q: How many poses do I get?
A: Unlike human portrait photography, we don’t charge by the pose. This allows us to work with the animal rather than against their instincts. We will take a wide variety of pictures and get as creative as you’d like. Whimsical photos can quickly become favorites.

Q: My dog/cat isn’t trained. Can I still get photos of them?
A: Sure. We don’t need your pet to sit still for longer than 1/60 of a second. In fact, we can also capture some great photos of your pet in action outdoors. Ask us about outdoor photography.

Q: My dog/cat is getting old. Can I still get pictures to remember them?
A: Yes. For older animals, we prefer to travel to your home to photograph the animal in order to reduce the stress travel may cause for your pet.

Q: Can I be photographed with my pet?
A: We are more than happy to photograph you with your pet. In fact, we encourage everyone to join his/her pet for a few photos. In this regard, we ask that you come to the session prepared for photography. Brightly colored or neutral clothing make the best photos.

Q: What photos are included in the session price?
A: In order to keep our session fees low and give you the most flexibility, we don’t force you to take our recommendations on chosen photo sizes. All photos are offered “a la carte.” This means that you purchase the photos you love and nothing more.

Q: What happens after the session?
A: We will contact you within four business days after your session to make an appointment for a print consultation. You will visit our office and we will go through the photos together to determine your options. This is where we will use our expertise in design and color to make recommendations. You will make your selections and place your order at the print consultation.

Q: How many proofs can I expect to see?
A: You can expect between 15-20 photos to choose from the session. We will provide the absolute best for you to choose at your consultation.

Q: How long does it take to receive my prints?
A: Prints are typically available 7-10 days after the print consultation. At that time, you can pick them up at our studio or we can ship them to you. In certain cases, we may even hand deliver them to you (Indianapolis metro area only).

Q: Do you sell frames?
A: We currently do not offer any framing services.

Q: When do I pay for my order?
A: Session fees are due upon completion of the initial session. Due to the highly personalized nature of photography, 75% of the total print order will be due at the print consultation. You will pay the remaining 25% at the time of delivery.

Q: Can if I decide to order more prints later?
A: All prints from the session are available for one year with no additional charge. After one year, there will be a $25 archive retrieval charge per order.

Q: What forms of payment are accepted?
A: We accept personal checks and the four major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express).
